I have put pictures of some of the Dwarf bearded irises that I have for sale at $8 for a little clump of at least two, probably more rhizomes. They will be trimmed and ready to plant and should put on good growth through the Summer, ready for flowering next season. They are already conditioned to the Wairarapa climate which is an advantage.

The dwarf Irises grow no taller than about 30 or 40 cms. I do have names for most of them.
They look lovely on a border edge, in a rockery, and do well in pots too.
Easy to grow , they do like a well drained position and at least 5 hours sun a day.

The Tall bearded irises are just coming into flower now and you are welcome to view those.

All the irises pictured here are dwarf to Medium sized irises. I plan to list the Talls later.

Thanks for looking.
Pickup is in Kuripuni.

Lavender is a member of the Lamiaceae family, which includes many indispensible culinary herbs, such as the mints, rosemary, thyme, basil, oregano and marjoram. Next time you’re out in your herb garden, take a close look at these herbs.

You’ll notice that their stems, rather than being round, are actually square, which is one of the distinctive characteristics of this illustrious family. Another characteristic, of course, is that all these herbs produce highly fragrant essential oils. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that lavender can be used in cooking.

Lavender can be substituted for any of these other herbs in cooking (except basil – I wouldn’t care to try a lavender pesto, but who knows?). It is, perhaps, most similar to rosemary or thyme, but imparts a delicate, floral flavour to dishes.

Would make a great gift for an international visitor!

Use in biscuit and cake recipes, ice cream, confectioneries, chocolates as well as spice rubs, rice and curries.

I also have culinary lavender oil for sale.
