A bit about me

Annemarie from Ruakaka

Hi my name is Annemarie and I live at the beautiful Ruakaka Beach πŸ–οΈ,I'm worldly travelled, retired Assistant Nurse, and SES Rescue worker, as a volunteer 6 years, also Volunteer Hospice Nurse, gaining a Certificate, working Nights in Aged Care, and specializing in Dementia, which I loved, so had paid work, and volunteer work, worked at Redcliffe Hospital in Brisbane Australia and the State Emergency Services, fully trained in any emergency and specializing in Search and Rescue, land search and so on.. I came back to NZ after 30 years overseas, travelling all over Europe and lived in England 3 and a half years.. My careers sadly ended when I ended up a month in ICU on life support, I had Sepsis and ARDs, I nearly died, so a miracle there.
I'm a Christian and love the Lord, I spend a lot of time praising God, and HES extremely important to me.
I have a lovely dog, and cat, previously married, sadly, I didn't know that man, my husband, I wish him well, regardless.
I'm fiercely independent, having travelled the world on my own,so I like my alone time, but also love to meet like minded people..I'm no pushover though,no time for gossiping,or judgemental people, Judge Not,Lest you be Judge...I'm not a well woman, but that doesn't define me...I love to help others if or when I can,I have also had a rather full on traumatic life, but from bad,I turned to good, and I'm currently in the middle of writing 2 books, one is my autobiography as it's pretty intense, and the 2nd is MY experience in NZ's healthcare, only, and putting stories together,as I know I'm not alone,in our sadly broken down health care especially in Northland based on my experience in NZ and health care in other countries..I hope and pray our Govt work hard on a fix,it won't be an overnight fix,it will be very hard, but if nothing's done, stat,it will get alot worse,we are in an aged care nation currently and from my experience Seniors 65 + even 60 yrs and up,seem to fall through the cracks, that saddens me,as I have alot of time for the aged, and my mother,as my Dad has left to reside with the Lord,I miss him.
Life for me is good, yes I have much to do,but in doing what I'm doing,I hope it helps many other people, that's me,I love the beach, having fun,and laughing, enjoying life,as we just don't know,as life is so precious,as it can be taken from us in a heartbeat..So my motto is live each day fully, yes there will be trials, sadness, all emotions and storms, but life isn't about the Storms,it's how you come out of the storm, and the person you become, because if these storms, and I have had many, and it changed my heart completely and the way I look at life, and how extremely precious life is.
That's enough of me,so in a nutshell,I identifying not if what I do,but who I am,and who o am is A child of the most high God πŸ™and that is how I made it in life,I didn't do this all alone, for that,I'm extremely grateful...
May you all have a wonderful day, grab it fully, embrace it,and become the person,God made you to be..
Blessings All πŸ™πŸ’œπŸ•ŠοΈ

And the 2024 Prospa Local Business Hero is...

Prospa

A huge congratulations to mother and son duo, Mary and Sam Danielson from The Puketapu Hotel.

The votes for all finalists have been tallied and they have been chosen by Neighbourly members across the country as the Prospa Local Business Hero of 2024.

The Puketapu Hotel was nominated by a local called Margaret and the nomination reads:
'On Feb 14, 2023, Cyclone Gabrielle flooded many of the rural areas. Puketapu Hotel went under perhaps half a meter of water. However, immediately Mary Danielson and her son, Sam Danielson, along with their loyal staff pulled it together to cook copious amounts of food that without electricity would have been wasted. Throughout the years many of us have been treated with a pub gathering where we can reconnect and a free meal. At Christmas there was Santa, games, gifts for kids, donated patchwork for adults, an ice cream truck and lots of camaraderie.
This February on the cyclone anniversary, they again pulled out the stops to give hundreds of us a special night. We are all tired of the cyclone cleanup and they understood that it was needed.'

Such a deserving business and team, well done Mary and Sam. And thank you to all those who voted!
