The Big Read is back!

Kylie from Hutt City Libraries

Our popular summer reading challenge for kids is on again over summer!

Research shows children can maintain and even increase their reading levels if they keep reading over the summer break. The Big Read is a great way for your child to read books, complete fun activities, and be in to win cool prizes.

It’s free for any child aged 0-12. This year it’s been extended to under-5s, who have their own set of activities to complete.

You can pre-register online from 1 December, or sign up at your local library from 16 December. For more information see library.huttcity.govt.nz/BigRead

We also have the Teen Read for ages 13-18 and Explore. Read. Relax. for adults on over summer. Both start from 1 December, drop in to your local library to sign-up or grab a challenge card.

Speed limits around NaeNae

Susan from Naenae

Hi Neighbors, Just a heads up, I have just received a $170 fine for driving at 50km on Rata Street Naenae on a SUNDAY Morning. I wrote to NZTA pointing out and sending in a photo of sign stating that it was 30km on school days between those hours, but they said that the whole of Rata Street and some surrounding streets are 30km 24/7 and have been for over a year. Did I miss this been advised by council? Always good to be informed. Merry Christmas to all
