NZTA Update on SH2 - 3pm
The NZ Transport Agency is advising that one lane northbound on State Highway 2 between Ngauranga and Petone will be opening with speed restrictions at around 3pm. This will be a staged opening, allowing northbound traffic on to State Highway 1 first, and then a small diversion will be put in for traffic coming from the Ngauranga Gorge. One lane is open southbound. Motorists should expect that their journey may take longer than usual, and should be patient, continue to exercise extra care, drive to the conditions and watch speed and following distances.
SH58 from Paremata to Haywards Interchange remains closed.

Speed limits around NaeNae
Hi Neighbors, Just a heads up, I have just received a $170 fine for driving at 50km on Rata Street Naenae on a SUNDAY Morning. I wrote to NZTA pointing out and sending in a photo of sign stating that it was 30km on school days between those hours, but they said that the whole of Rata Street and some surrounding streets are 30km 24/7 and have been for over a year. Did I miss this been advised by council? Always good to be informed. Merry Christmas to all

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
