SPCA Pet of the Day: Meet Carlos

Reporter Community News

"Hi everyone, My name is Diego and I am a very stunning young boy. I am a great dog who loves to have cuddles, I love to have humans around me. Due to my young age I would be better for me to go to a home that has no young children. I can be a little shy with new people and then I am a bouncy bean. I would be fine for me to go to a home with teenagers.
So far I had a little bit of training, I am a bit uncoordinated and jumpy. With training, we both need to start from scratch. I am very willing to learn. You will see me blossom from an uncoordinated boy to a very well trained dog that will stick by your side. I need to be introduced to the world slowly as it can be a little overwhelmingly for me. I am great with other dogs at the centre and love to play. A home with a slightly older dog would mix well with me, so they can show me the ropes on how to be the best dog. If you are a ready for a new man in your life, please click on my profile and my heart could be yours forever."

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
