Apartments to help rejuvenate struggling Lower Hutt CBD
The conversion of a former commercial building into 40 new apartments could be a much-needed shot in the arm for Lower Hutt’s struggling CBD.
Developer Kevin Melville said the $15 million project, alongside other apartment complexes, would establish a new inner-city community that would help drive business in the central city.
The units will be available in about 14 months.
Wellington developer Ian Cassels is also working on a major development nearby featuring a mix of apartments and retail.
Hutt City Council estimates 9606 new houses will be needed to be built in the city by 2047 to keep up with population growth.

Stamps wanted
I run a Stamp club at Tawa School to encourage children to collect stamps and learn about countries, history and more. Unfortunately new stamps aren't often seen these days as it's all electronic! If you have any stamps or old collections sitting around, let me know and I'll come and get them.
