Most Kiwis are entitled to five days of sick leave a year, but some - often those in lower paid jobs - get less.
New Zealand’s minimum sick leave allowance is one of the lowest in the OECD. In Australia they get 10 days, in most European countries it’s even more.

Wellington artists who wouldn’t normally have a platform are being showcased in a home-grown collective gallery exhibition at Te Auaha.
Te Auaha, NZ Institute of Creativity on Dixon St, is hosting the second iteration exhibition ‘Have Something To Say’, a collective exhibition of artworks from five Wellington artists, which runs until Saturday, August 15.
