But whether you believe it starts on June 1st, with the winter solstice on June 21st, or when the weather packs in, now is a good time to prepare for more rain by making sure the grates over stormwater sumps (drains) in your street and on your property are free of rubbish and leaves.

4.50am today found a half Persian brown and white cat digging up my garden so to the owner please have more control over your cat. I also have 3 other cats come on to my property 2 black and white ones and a blackish one.They love to catch and kill the birds and they're not fussy...starlings, sparrows,black birds,tuis, ducklings.Just letting cat owners who have no control over their pets I am over it.Am in Central Hutt area and house backs on to a stream....

Hi Neighbors, Just a heads up, I have just received a $170 fine for driving at 50km on Rata Street Naenae on a SUNDAY Morning. I wrote to NZTA pointing out and sending in a photo of sign stating that it was 30km on school days between those hours, but they said that the whole of Rata Street and some surrounding streets are 30km 24/7 and have been for over a year. Did I miss this been advised by council? Always good to be informed. Merry Christmas to all
