STORM UPDATE: 6.30am 14 July 2017
While there is still some rain and wind outside the forecast looks like the worst of this storm is behind us in Lower Hutt. Block Road and the Riverbank Car Park are open this morning.
While river and stream levels are receding they are still high. Please stay away from waterways when they are like this.
While the Lower Hutt Emergency Operations Centre has stood down river levels will continue to be monitored in case the situation changes.
If you notice storm-related issues please call us on 04 570 6666 24/7.
Please drive carefully on the roads today as there is likely still to be debris from the storm.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
