Block Road, Harcourt Werry Drive and Riverbank Carpark, Lower Hutt closed due to surface flooding

Someone needs to remind Mother Nature it's summer! Our contractors are closing Block Road, Harcourt Werry Drive (Kennedy Good Bridge to Connolly streets) because heavy rain has caused surface flooding in the area. Please take care on the roads tonight and avoid the Hutt River as it is running very swiftly.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
