Will this Post Shop closure affect you?

The closure of United Video outlet in Naenae last month due… View moreThe closure of Naenae's video shop which also acted as a postal agency has caused frustration for neighbours in the area. NZ Post has said it is no longer viable to continue offering services in Naenae due to falling customer numbers. The closure of United Video outlet in Naenae last month due to seismic strengthening work meant the store's postal services it had inherited from Hillary Court in 2015 went too.

Naenae local Lew Coe does not use internet banking, so the loss of the bill paying service was "a hell of an inconvenience". He said Naenae was a working-class area and many of the mainly elderly community who used the service had no access to a car, little money to catch the bus or had mobility issues. Coe said the alternative bill payment locations in central Lower Hutt and Stokes Valley were too far away for many.
