“More Than Honey” – Film evening

Richard from Petone

Tuesday 11th December, 7.30 pm
Alicetown Community Centre, 38 Victoria Street, Alicetown

This documentary is a beautiful film to watch pre-Christmas. It shows both old and new styles of bee-keeping – and shows them with stunning photography, giving amazing insight into the detailed activities of bees and hives. It leaves us to draw our own conclusions about the widely reported risks to bee-population survival, concentrating mostly on the factual and the immediate.
Our final Transition Towns Event for 2018 will be at the Alicetown Community Centre followed by a discussion and a cup of tea.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
