Jo and Rachel talked about what's going on in their own backyards and suggested some edible crops you can sow and grow yourself. Jo gave a masterclass in planting tomatoes, the pair discussed peeing on lemon trees and keeping cats out of your vege beds, and Rachel talked to a Central Otago gardener who has to deal with extreme temperatures, extreme drought... and temperamental donkeys. You can also follow the conversation on Spotify and Stitcher. Let your friends know too!

An attempt to force Coronation St-type housing on Lower Hutt, or a much needed move towards dealing with the city's housing crisis.
Those were the two views as Hutt City councillors approved a plan change that would radically change the way the city looks. The plan change will introduce two new activity areas in and around nine suburban centres. The first, a Suburban Mixed Use Activity Area with three-storey buildings accommodating shops and cafes on the ground floor, with apartments or offices above. The second new residential area would be next to the mixed-use area, allowing residential buildings up to three storeys. What do you make of the plan?

This new pricing is a wonderful opportunity for a new family to benefit from a home that has given such joy to this family: they are now ready to start their next chapter and this unique property must sell for them to do so.
502 Marine Drive is such an impressive home. Set in a magnificent spot overlooking Sunshine Bay, enjoying spectacular harbour views which never fail to impress - this is a home for all seasons. In the summer the northwest facing deck, wonderful section and perfect positioning for beach life provide ample diversion, and in the colder months, double glazing and heat pump make this home warm and inviting: it definitely has the wow factor.

The land, on two titles, stretches to over 4500m2 straddles Sunshine Bay to Mahina Bay. This property is wonderfully private with plentiful off street parking. Accommodation is generous with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a wonderful large open plan living/kitchen/dining opening onto a large north facing deck. The high ceilings amplify the light and space created by the huge picture windows - the views are hypnotic. There are lots of hidden extras with this property - the attic office has a view over to Wellington.

The section is a wonderland, bush clad with many species of birds visiting each year - it is sure to appeal to nature lovers. Children could spend hours getting to know this unique slice of New Zealand, building forts, flying foxes, finding wildlife or catching fish from the front lawn. What a wonderful way to grow up! The added bonus of the >2400m2 section on a separate title provides plenty of development potential, or a land bank, or a safety net to secure your privacy: this makes for a rare opportunity in this lovely Bay.
