Why is attunement so important in your relationship?

Ann from Relationship Wellbeing Specialist

Attunement is defined as becoming receptive, aware, or accustomed to something, but it also means "to make harmonious," and harmony is what we're aiming for when improving your relationship.

Attunement can help build trust in a relationship, but it's not as intuitive as those definitions sound. To help, we've created an acronym out of the word ATTUNE to guide you through the steps it takes to attune to your partner's emotions:

Awareness of your partner’s emotion;
Turning toward the emotion;
Tolerance of two different viewpoints;
Understand your partner;( try to)
Non-defensive responses to your partner;
and responding with Empathy.

While this process includes many of our other approaches—turning toward, responding with empathy, and validating different perspectives—following it will help you both attune to each other and create emotional harmony.

Speed limits around NaeNae

Susan from Naenae

Hi Neighbors, Just a heads up, I have just received a $170 fine for driving at 50km on Rata Street Naenae on a SUNDAY Morning. I wrote to NZTA pointing out and sending in a photo of sign stating that it was 30km on school days between those hours, but they said that the whole of Rata Street and some surrounding streets are 30km 24/7 and have been for over a year. Did I miss this been advised by council? Always good to be informed. Merry Christmas to all
