We're on the hunt for the strangest stories of unearthed garden treasures, whether they're something rare, sentimental, valuable, or just plain unexpected. This work will unlock significant visitor potential of the isolated and beautiful area. Realising the visitor experience depends on replacing the 86-year old bridge, which has reached the end of its useful life, to provide reliable and safe vehicle access over the river.
Access is still possible by foot and cycles. Contractors are on site now and once construction is finished, the old bridge will be taken down. We’re excited to have this underway and the new bridge in place before Christmas.
Over the past three months there has been an increase in licence plate thefts across the Hutt Valley.
Police patrols are actively watching for any criminal activity around vehicles and we monitor crime hotspots and carry out mandatory checks on commonly targeted vehicles.

Police patrols are actively watching for any criminal activity around vehicles and we monitor crime hotspots and carry out mandatory checks on commonly targeted vehicles.
Police also recommend where possible, to park your car inside your property rather than on the street or only park in well-lit and busy locations.
Often when vehicles are stolen they are used to commit further offenses such as burglary and robbery so we are keen to hear anything from the public.
