Is the new Northland rail line a worthwhile investment?

The team Reporter from Northern News

Hi neighbours - a $95 million investment in a 181km rail line between Whangārei and Swanson will stop the north Auckland Line from having to close in the near future.

KiwiRail Group Chief Executive Greg Miller says line improvements "would give more certainty for our customers and will make rail an option for Northland businesses and exporters to get their goods to market".

Is this a worthwhile investment? Do you think Northland businesses will benefit from this?

What do you think about a load of uncovered dead calves?

Denise Piper Reporter from Northern News

The Aucklander who saw the uncovered trailer said it was a "confronting sight - pretty gross". The driver did not appear to be breaking any laws but farming experts say the calves should've been covered for good taste. What do you think - is this just the reality of farming or should the public be protected from such sights?

Greg from Kerikeri District

Hello out there all you Kerikeri area locals. Any of you Motorcyclists like me? Is there any interest for an occasional get together for a social group ride to "points of interest" , share some company and stories over a coffee & a bun....whatever? I'm up for a, say, once a month, maybe more often, get together on a Saturday or Sunday, perhaps, or, as I'm long retired any day pretty much. Let me know if there's any interest.
