Changes to dog control rules in Canterbury's Waimakariri district could see tighter restrictions on where dog owners can let their dogs off a leash.
A Waimakariri District Council panel heard submissions to its draft Dog Control Bylaw on Thursday, including from dog attack victim Larissa Corboy, who underwent surgery after being attacked by a pack of dogs in June.
Corboy urged the council to look at regulating specific breeds and dog types, saying dangerous breeds and part-breeds in the district should be identified. The five dogs involved in her attack were all bull breeds.
Saturday 28th September, from 6 pm, there will be rides on the big steam train, and the small trains through the trees. Also traction engine rides. The North Canterbury Model Railway Club Inc. meets on Thursday nights from 7 pm, Wednesday afternoons from 1 pm, and Saturday mornings from 10 am. We have a junior section with their own room and layout. There are opportunities for young children from 8 years to 14 years to join our club and take part in building and operating model railway at our club rooms at 13 Blake street Rangiora. New adult members are also welcome to join. You do not have to own a model railway to be a member of our club as we have it all under one roof. We have a large H O layout under construction, a 0 0 layout, also under construction, an N gauge layout also under construction, and a juniors HO layout. We also have a Thomas and Friends layout for young children to operate during the Rangiora Sunday Market and on Saturday mornings.
