The Goodwill Agreement was signed by Woodend School and Transwaste Canterbury in 2005 – making it one of the first school and trucking road safety agreements in New Zealand.
With trucks regularly driving past on their way to the Kate Valley Landfill near Waipara, the agreement is a commitment to work together to address any issues raised by either party.
Long-term road safety data from NZTA suggests speed limits on almost 90 per cent of the country's roads are too high and should be lowered.

Ministry of Transport data for 2016, the most recent available on its website, makes for sobering reading – 328 deaths from 286 fatal road crashes, or 0.9 deaths for every 10,000 vehicles.

The aim of this is for us to raise funds to help cover the cost of my husband representing new Zealand playing Power Chair Soccer.. he has been selected to play in Sydney at Olympic park in October for the Asia Pacific Cup. He needs to take a carer with him to make this happen. He sustained a high level spinal injury when he was on track to represent NZ playing volleyball, sport has always been his thing and I really want to help him continue to be able to take part, this costs us a lot , $7000 for this trip and then there is another early next year,,, we really need to find sponsors or funding, but so far we have not managed to secure any.. so we are selling what we can to try and help.... please come along, and feel free to chat to him about his sport. thanks.

Outgoing Retirement Commissioner Diane Maxwell has been outspoken about the need to increase the pension age from 65.
"You used to get super for five years, then 10 and now 20 - soon it'll be 30. I'm not sure how we can fund people getting super for 30 years or more."

New Zealand has one of the simplest pension schemes in the world - all you have to do is be old enough and have lived in the country long enough and you can get it.
But that also makes it expensive - about $14.5 billion this year. Jobseeker benefits, by comparison, cost just $1.7b and sole parent support $1.08b.

The Crusaders name debate has been hotly disputed after the terrorist attack in Christchurch, where 51 people were killed after a gunman opened fire on Muslim worshippers in two mosques in the city.
The name-change pressure emerged because of the centuries-old sensitivity over the history of the Crusades, which were bloody medieval conflicts between Muslims and Christians.
