Two dozen deaths: Warning too late for rock fishing spot
A coroner has urged the Government to make lifejackets compulsory for rock fishers after the deaths of three men who drowned at Papanui Point, one of New Zealand’s deadliest coastal blackspots.
But in a tragic irony, the official warning released on Wednesday came as rescuers searched for another man who had since gone missing from the very same Waikato spot.

Grant Kilby has always loved camping. His mum was director of health at the YMCA, and he would attend YMCA camps in the school holidays. “I think it was mandatory that I was there,” he jokes.
He went on camping holidays with his parents, and later, took his own kids.
