Furore after new sign ‘bans’ dogs, walkers, horses from Pirongia’s Sainsbury Forest
The out-of-the-blue appearance of a sign banning dogs, walkers and other users from a Waipā forest has sparked a backlash and a council apology for the “confusion”.
The sign was installed at Sainsbury Forest and the Pirongia Mountain Bike Park on September 5, with symbols showing only mountain bikers were allowed. Dirt bikes, dog walkers, walkers, and horse riders were not.
