'Tragic' head-on crash near Hamilton killed five people
The stretch of highway near Hamilton where five people died in a head-on crash late Tuesday afternoon re-opened about midnight.
The two-vehicle crash is the deadliest since 2022.
It happened on State Highway 3 in Ōhaupō, halfway between Hamilton and Te Awamutu, at 4.44pm on Tuesday.

Grant Kilby has always loved camping. His mum was director of health at the YMCA, and he would attend YMCA camps in the school holidays. “I think it was mandatory that I was there,” he jokes.
He went on camping holidays with his parents, and later, took his own kids.
