The company behind Hamilton-Kirikiriroa Airport has ditched plans to make the runway longer.

The airport boss says expert reports showed “no compelling argument” and international flights can be accommodated if the airlines want. But a Hamilton city councillor and airline figure said the decision makes the airport “an aviation backwater".
