TRANSPORT HUB TO PREPARE HAMILTON'S NORTHEAST FOR NEW TRAIN TO AND FROM AUCKLAND

CHRISTEL YARDLEY/STUFF
Passengers going from Hamilton to Auckland will stop at the Rotokauri Transport Hub (file photo).
Work on a new, northern transport hub for Hamilton will start before Christmas.
The $29 million Rotokauri Transport Hub will include a bus interchange, a rail platform for Hamilton to Auckland passenger rail, and a pedestrian bridge over the railway to The Base.
Downer New Zealand Ltd has the contract to build the hub, a Hamilton City Council statement said.
It will give Hamiltonians more choice in how to get around the city, general manager development Chris Allen said.
The start-up rail service, due to start mid-2020, is a priority which came out of talks about the Hamilton to Auckland Corridor Plan, he said.
"Our contribution is to establish the new Rotokauri Transport Hub."
It's expected to take about 80 minutes to get from Rotokauri to Papakura on the train service, the statement said.
Once it's finished, the Rotokauri hub will include a park-and-ride facility for rail and bus passengers, including mobility spaces, electric vehicle charging spaces, drop-off and pick-up zones and taxi stands.
The total project cost to develop the hub, including land costs, design work and additional roading, is $29M, of which $18.5M is NZ Transport Agency subsidies.
KiwiRail will provide the Hamilton to Auckland passenger rail service, under a contract from Waikato Regional Council.

Person to fix Washng Machine

Dianne from Hamilton East

Would anybody know of someone who can fix washing machines for a reasonable price. Quite prepared to pay a reasonable amount but $85 for half an hour, which I was quoted is just too much.
My dirty washing would much appreciate any suggestions :)

Our beloved Municipal Pools

Dianne from Hamilton East

Today, I happened to glance at a copy of Waikato Times and lo and behold, most of the front page was dedicated to council declaring what a wonderful vista it will be when the 'derelict' municipal pools are demolished. I was astounded. I am almost certain that supporters of the revitalisation of the pools have never been given the same space and privilege of being on the Front Page. Where is the fair play here? The impartiality ? These pools have been with us for over 100 years, and are one, if not the only concrete outside pool, of its type in New Zealand. They have been the making of many memories for thousands of Hamiltonians and others over the years and yet The Waikato Times and other media sources have chosen to give very little support to the pools. Please people email council, even now at the 11th hour, your voice, our voices could make the difference!

Urgent

Amber from Hamilton East

Hi I posted a notice about a white male cat hanging around on Fox street. Turns out it is actually a she and she is lactating so she is actively feeding kittens and we really need to find them. I tried following her but she keeps going into peoples backyards and I don’t want to look creepy walking around people property so please keep an eye and an ear out for my sign of kittens they will most likely be under your house or bunched up in a corner somewhere. Contact me on 0226258917 if you hear or see anything thanks
