You can still drive-through coronavirus testing centres
During lockdown, you can still drive through coronavirus testing centres around the region.
You should go if you have flu-like systems or have recently travelled, Waikato DHB says.
Firstly, phone Healthline on 0800 358 5453, for guidance on whether assessment and testing is needed. If you can't get through, phone your general practice/doctor.
Test results take "several days", the DHB said.
Current community-based assessment centres (CBAC) are at:
- Claudelands Event Centre
- Tokoroa Hospital
- Ngāruawāhia Panthers Rugby League Club
- Taumarunui Hospital campus
- Huntly War Memorial Hall
- Te Kūiti Hospital
- Silver Fern Event Centre, Te Aroha
Designated GPs offering COVID-19 assessments:
- Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki Thames
- Tui Medical Centre

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
