The Hamilton Soapbox: Hamilton's mayoral candidates step up

Matt Bowen Reporter from Waikato Times

It's an idea which mixes the old with the new. We call it: The Hamilton Soapbox.

Starting this Friday, the Waikato Times will invite two candidates standing in this year's Hamilton mayoral race to step onto our soapbox and talk to the people.

No teleprompter. No filters. No props.

Each candidate will be given two minutes to share their vision for the city, and passersby will be encouraged to ask the candidates questions.

What would you like to ask the candidates?

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
