A battle is brewing between small town Waikato residents and big coffee as Starbucks eyes Tīrau for one of the country’s first drive-through venues outside Auckland.
But some locals don’t think the international coffee giant and a planned Burger King franchise are the right fit for the SH1 stop-off known for its boutique cafes, bespoke furniture shops and corrugated iron inspired art works.
