New crossing at Killarney Rd ready for action
Pedestrians and people on bikes using the Western Rail Trail shared path will be able to use a new signalised crossing on Killarney Road from Monday morning. The crossing point has had a Stop/Go operation in place in recent weeks while the signals have been integrated with the KiwiRail crossing, but this work has now been completed. Traffic signals will indicate when pedestrians or people on bikes are crossing and railway signals and barrier arms will be used to alert for trains. Motorists are reminded to stop on red lights to allow pedestrians to cross, and not to park on the rail lines, even if no train has been signalled. The work completes the crossing points for the Western Rail Trail, one of the key projects in Hamilton’s Biking Plan.
