At home working on the farm, on Monday, December 26, 2022, aged 82. Loved father and father-in-law of Brenda and Richie Taylor, and Mark, loved granddad of Tania, Sean, Brianna, and Liam, adored great-granddad of Jack, Ava, Fergus, and George and a very dear friend of Joy Giles and Jacqui McDonald. A funeral service for Ian will be held at the Sacred Heart Basilica, Craigie Ave, Timaru on Wednesday, January 4, at 1.00pm, thereafter interment at the Timaru Cemetery. Passed away peacefully at Rowena Jackson, Invercargill, on December 26, 2022, aged 85 years. Dearly loved wife the late Bill Wilson, and loved wife of the late Russell McPherson. Born March 15, 1938. John sadly and suddenly departed this world on 26th December 2022 at his home surrounded by his grandchildren, in Matakana, aged 84 years. Survived by his son Callum, daughter Fiona, and beloved grandchildren Jack, Grace, Sasha, Willy, and his mate Hoover. Matakana and Warkworth communities, loved dearly by his wide network of friends. John’s creation of the Matakana Country Park will be his living memory with his dreams of developing a place for all families to bring their children to grow up and enjoy – ‘‘Joy to the People’’ was John’s favourite slogan. A very special Tane Mahuta (giant kauri tree – ‘‘God of the Forest’’ has fallen. Died at home peacefully on Christmas Eve 2022. She was surrounded by her treasured children Juliet, David and Matthew and beloved husband Michael (with Dali). She was dear sister of Beresford and adoring Grannie to six, and loving auntie and cherished friend to many. In her last weeks she was cared for lovingly and expertly at home by her doctor Bevan Telfer and the nurses of Mary Potter Hospice and the district nurses of Kapiti Community Health Service.
