Doses of chlorine being used across Christchurch to ensure drinking water is safe will likely be halved next month after city councillors approved the move.

Cutbacks will be made at 60 per cent of the city's pump stations – 40 per cent already have lower doses – reducing the smell and taste of chlorine, particularly for those nearest to wells.

It will also be welcome relief for those with skin conditions such as eczema that are aggravated by the chemical.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH

Issued by MetService at 01:57 pm Saturday 22 December 2018

Valid until 09:00 pm Saturday 22 December 2018

This watch affects people in the following weather forecast districts:

Christchurch

Canterbury Plains

Canterbury High Country

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to spread north through Canterbury this afternoon and evening. There is a risk that some of these thunderstorms could become SEVERE for a time this afternoon and evening, producing localised downpours of 20 to 30mm per hour, large hail of 15 to 25mm diameter and possibly a small tornado.

Rainfall of this intensity can cause surface flooding, slips and hazardous driving conditions, while large hail can cause damage to crops, orchards, vines and glasshouses and also make driving hazardous. If any tornadoes occur, they will only affect very localised areas.

Hi Everyone.
I have not long been given this wonderful role in sorting out the warehouse for my place of work, 1Geotechnical.
They have for many, many years been working in the deconstruction field as well as Civil construction, drilling, driveways and much more . We have some of the items available so far on trademe. Please save the following seller graceleigh to get updates on 'new' salvaged items from us. Items range from windows, to doors, whiteboards, pinboards, toilets, showers, timber and much more.
One of our biggest interest items are our Pink Batts. If you have a small job on the go, or just want to insulate that man cave of a garage, they are perfect ! However they do sell quickly ! Especially with the new laws coming into place for insulation in rentals.
We even have some fencing and walkway avaialble ready for those "christmas reno projects"
