Environment Clean Up 21 June 2025
The Lions Club of New Brighton will be running a clean up of the Estuary and surrounding walking tracks in South New Brighton on 21 June. Be part of National Volunteer Week and join us to improve our local environment.
Start time: 10 am Finish 12 pm
There will be a free BBQ for volunteers.
Meeting place: Car park beside the South New Brighton Community Hall, Beatty Street

Poll: Should we be giving the green light to new mining projects? π°π²
The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if itβs approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.
We want to know: Should mining projects like this move ahead?
