Hi neighbours,

Have you noticed that your windows are stiff, or the handle is a bit loose?
Depending on age, quality and probably a little bit determined by luck, different parts of a window can’t work anymore:

• Locking pins no longer lock exactly
• Window handle is difficult or difficult to turn
• Window sash does not fit properly in the frame (must be lifted or pushed in)
• Window handle wobbles

If you have windows that are stiff to open or close or leave big draught gaps give us a call on 0800 25 25 00 for a free estimate.
Hinges can easily be replaced without worrying about the cost of replacing the whole window.

Did you come across a particularly amazing beach, camping ground, town, walk or scenic spot? What made it so special? Any activities or places to eat and drink you can recommend in the area would also be much appreciated. As usual, please include 'NFP' (not for publication) in your comment if you don't want it included in a travel article.

Happy Monday neighbours,

A mushroom-themed education, play and foraging area will sprout in Christchurch's red zone in the coming months.

The Mushroom Room will feature at least six different native and exotic species of edible mushrooms for foragers, art by local artists, engaging play pieces, and interactive signage to educate people about the fast-growing fungi.

Christchurch City Council announced the plans on Monday and the project has received a $19,600 grant.

The purpose is to educate people on the fungi as well as attracting more use of the red zone land and encouraging visitors.

The project will be on the corner of Evelyn Cousins Ave and River Rd in Richmond and is expected to be completed by April.

What are your thoughts on this project? Comment below.

We are still on the lookout for a suitable house to rent in Kaiapoi. We are both older folks, we don't smoke and have no pets. We would like a long term rental, preferably a three-bedroom home, but we could probably consider a two-bedroom providing that the garage is a double, this, so that we can store our bikes, car etc and there is room enough so that I can continue working at my sign business.
We want to stay in Kaiapoi as we both like it here. A garden would be welcome as Paul has a keen interest in that.
We also have excellent references.
So if you know of anywhere that might be suitable please get in touch. Thank you to all, Lynda and Paul.😄

Applicants should be 25+ (for insurance purposes). They should also have hoist, stoma and uridome experience. I have 2 permanent shifts in the early evening. I also require "on call" staff for a variety of shifts to cover leave, sickness etc.

Hi,

I need some stuff shipping back to the UK for my oldest lad - couple of small boxes. Anyone shipping a container back to the UK or know of anyone that is who might be prepared to help? Not sure what the customs/border control rules are for this sort of thing but am just throwing it out there on the assumption that this will be significantly more cost effective than actually freighting as individual items.

Cheers

Paul
