As we (CCL) begin developing the Cashmere Hills, we are dedicated to being a ‘partner’ with the residents in the surrounding area(s). We have come into your backyards, not to disrupt your lifestyles, but to develop an area of the outer city in an appealing and well planned manner. In our planning, we have considered the development with you all in mind. We are not here to take as much land as possible and make a conglomerate of row-by-row lots that the valley itself would find disheartening. Yet, we have carefully and methodically planned this development to retain the beauty and iconic natural landscape of the valley. Once completed approximately 100 hectares of land will be made available for use to the wider community through vesting to Christchurch City Council.
Our working hours of consent are Monday – Friday 7am to 6pm. We had consent to start at 7am on Saturday, however we thought that was unreasonable and unfair to the surrounding residents. Our new consent is from 8am – 2:30pm Saturdays…a later start and an early finish to allow residents to enjoy their Saturdays.
As we move forward with the development, we are dedicated to being as transparent with everyone as possible. Once our site office (150 meters in from the CAP entrance) is complete, we are going to have an information-BBQ regarding the development on a Saturday afternoon (date still to be determined). As we continue with the development we will send out email blasts to everyone in the area with any major changes to our ongoing work. With that being said please see the following list as to what our immediate plans are in getting construction underway.
Immediate Action:
Cleaning up the entrance (200 meters in) from Worsleys Rd. This includes chip sealing the road, to eliminate dust and have a more appealing look.
Giving the old grubby fence running parallel to the entrance road a facelift.
Eliminating all the weeds and rubbish along this section.
Completing our site office in an eye engaging fashion. This includes a parking lot for our sales office and employees. We will not be parking on Worsleys Rd.
Placing a STOP sign and road markings at the exit onto Worsleys Rd – We have witnessed vehicles at a high rate of speed entering Worsleys Rd. For a neighborhood with families and children this is not acceptable.
Dust Control – Water truck within open earthworks. Remediation of the non-sealed CAP road to mitigate dust issues. www.environ...
Livestock pens to be removed at the CAP entrance, once all livestock is off site…early April sometime.
Once the land dries up from this downpour we’ve had, we plan on starting our earthworks on Stage 1.
*No earthworks will be undertaken during the “wet period” over winter.
We have also attached an artist’s Impression of the final development of lots.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Hamish Wright – 027 566 9698

I am a student journalist at the University of Canterbury. One of our assignments coming up is to interact with a new community; an individual or family who has migrated to Christchurch in the last 5 years. I will be writing for the publication The Migrant Times and working with the person to tell their story.
Is there anyone on Neighbourly who might be willing to talk to me or could anyone on here put me in touch with someone who might want to share their story?
Thanks,
Charlotte :)
