Boil water notice issued for 2000 homes in east Christchurch
Two thousand households in parts of Bexley, Shirley, Wainoni and New Brighton need to boil their water after traces of E coli were found in the water supply.
All water used in these areas for drinking, food preparation, utensil washing, brushing teeth or making ice should be boiled until further notice.
A council spokeswoman says three days of clear counts have to be recorded before the boil water notice can be lifted.
