Council has agreed this morning that it will represent the Manawatu community through two electoral wards: Feilding and Rural, with 5 Councillors from each ward, and Mayor.

Retaining the previous Wards was not an option, the population of Manawatu has shifted and this meant that some Councillors were representing more of the community than others.

This option ensures that every Councillor represents the same number of Manawatū community members and will ensure a balance between the rural and urban communities
