A Fun Social Job, with impact

Ainsley Darvell from Flying Kites - Franklin

• Could you be a great peer support for a young adult?
• Live near Pukekohe?
• Fun afternoons whilst encouraging growth and development.

This is a great job for someone wanting to make a difference and having fun at the same time! This young man is looking for a peer support. In his early 20’s and loves dancing (hip hop) and reading adult/teen fiction/futuristic books like Ready Player One and Wonder. Come and spend time hanging out. He’d love to tell you about his dancing, and love of sci-fi books whilst also developing his independence skills.

Some support to get his home jobs done like the dishes, laundry and some cleaning is needed. Being able to show him some basic cooking too would be fantastic. Have fun teaching him how to use the buses and trains. A combination of community activities, household support and someone to have a laugh and joke with. This sensitive guy is looking for a role model, someone who can show him how to be confident and navigate the world. You do need a full licence and access to a car for this job to work.

We need someone 3 times per week for 2 hours on Tuesday to Thursday and another day which is flexible (maybe Wednesday). Start time is flexible as long as it's during the daytime, no evenings.

Do you think you have the skills and personality to make a difference? Contact us today!

Poll: Have you ever been bullied?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

People associate bullying with children in schools, but it can actually stretch beyond childhood to workplaces or neighbourhoods.

This Friday is Pink Shirt Day, which began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying after a new student was harassed for wearing pink. People across the globe are now encouraged to wear pink on this day to take a stand against bullying and promote inclusivity.

Have you or your whānau ever experienced bullying? Share your thoughts on Pink Shirt Day below.

Type 'Not For Print' if you wish your comments to be excluded from the Conversations column of your local paper.
