A young disabled man needs your help!
This job gives you the opportunity to build a strong and trusting relationship, share some joy and make some real impact. This high school student needs help with most parts of his day, including personal care tasks and his overall safety. You don’t need to have experience supporting people like this, we can teach you the details - if you have the heart and the personality to step into his life then we want to chat with you.
We are looking for someone to help this young man fill his days with fun and engagement, while looking out for his safety and wellbeing. He loves spending time with people who are confident, dependable and happy to chat with him, although he won’t use a lot of words to chat back with you.
His family are looking for someone to spend the afternoons and/or weekends with him. You would hang out watching TV or spending some time outside. He loves to be in the water and to engage with others.
We need people 2.30pm-7pm on weekdays and for 8-12 hour shifts on Saturday & Sunday (you can pick the hours). We have overnight wakeover hours (7pm - 7am) as well if you are interested. If you are interested in picking up a mix of any of these days then get in touch.
If you are interested please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message

Poll: Have you ever been bullied?
People associate bullying with children in schools, but it can actually stretch beyond childhood to workplaces or neighbourhoods.
This Friday is Pink Shirt Day, which began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying after a new student was harassed for wearing pink. People across the globe are now encouraged to wear pink on this day to take a stand against bullying and promote inclusivity.
Have you or your whānau ever experienced bullying? Share your thoughts on Pink Shirt Day below.
