Are you worried about your drinking?

Jessica from Henderson

We’re looking for 200 people to help us test a New Zealand version of the ‘Step Away’ app. So please let friends and family know about the study. The trial website can be found here: www.stepaway.nihi.auckland.ac.nz....
We’re looking for people aged 18 years or over who are resident in Auckland, have access to an iPhone, have had two or more occasions in the last 30 days where they have drunk six or more glasses of alcohol on one occasion, and want to reduce or stop drinking alcohol.
People who join the study will be randomly allocated to use one of two versions of the Step Away app. Both apps are designed to give feedback, tools, and support to reduce or stop drinking alcohol. The apps are free and have no in-app purchases.

This trial is being carried out by the National Institute for Health Innovation, University of Auckland. The trial is funded by the Health Research Council of New Zealand. The study has been approved by the Southern Health and Disability Ethics Committee (17/STH/94).

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
