Shih Tzu x Silky for Re-homing

Tayla from Browns Bay

It's with a heavy heart that I write this, but our family is parting ways and no longer able to give our pet dog the time and care he needs. We are looking to re-home our Shih Tzu x Silky, born Boxing day 2010.

Riley has been part of our family for 7 years. He’s a loyal little companion who sticks by your side, follows you around the house and is always excited to welcome you home. He is a super cute and charming little dog who has provided many laughs over the years with his unique, puppy-like character and little quirks. He never fails to make anyone smile!

He has multiple medical difficulties, all stemming from allergies (we suspect bad breeding). He has had 2 operations to enlarge the ear canals; has ongoing skin itching (which makes him quite a smelly dog - too much washing will dry out his skin, which also causes excessive itching); has dry eyes which are prone to infections (2x preventative drops per day for life, costs $40 every 6 weeks).

He is a happy, playful dog who loves walks where he can explore and sniff. He also loves digging holes at the beach. His favourite game at home is hide & seek with his teddy. He often brings it to you and urges you to hide it for him. He’s friendly with cats, little kids and little dogs. When confronted with a big dog or a new human friend he will often growl, but doesn’t bite (unless very aggressively provoked). He definitely warms up to people with a bit of encouragement!
He would best suit a family or older couple who have the time and finances to care for him.

He is house-trained, indoor dog who can follow basic commands like sit, stay, etc. He does not shed fur!

He is vaccinated, desexed, micro-chipped and registered. I also have health history record printed out from our vet of all previous checkups and information.

If you/anyone you know might be interested, please pass this on and contact me:

To ensure the best future for Riley, a screening process will apply to applicants to make sure they are willing and able to care for him.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
