Glenvar Road update

Victoria from Torbay - Long Bay

I am delighted to see the Glenvar Road/East Coast Road improvement project was specifically mentioned in the National Land Transport Plan that was announced by the Government yesterday. This is a positive step forward in securing the funding required for the much needed urgent safety improvements.

Also mentioned were a number of Northern Motorway improvements as well as an extension of the Northern Busway to Albany.

Although this still isn't a concrete guarantee, it is certainly huge progression in the delivery of the project. The Local Board have been strong collective advocates for improving Glenvar Rd and we will continue to ensure that the ultimate decision makers move forward with this project without further delays.

Fingers and toes crossed 🤞

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

A gentle Christmas reflection for anyone finding the season heavy

Claire from Torbay - Long Bay

I’ve shared a short Christmas reflection through Whakaaio Thoughts for anyone finding this season a little heavier than expected.

It’s about grief, quiet, and taking Christmas at your own pace.

Sharing in case it helps someone today.
