Free public transport on weekends for Auckland kids sees little uptake
Hi neighbours, Auckland Transport's initiative to get more kids on public transport by making it free on weekends has so far apparently failed to get traction.
The move began on September 7 with children aged 5 to 15 getting a free ride as long as they tagged their registered HOP card.
But figures show the numbers of children using public transport was similar - or even lower - than the week before when they had to pay.
Are free weekends enticing you to take the kids on public transport?
