Multi media art workshops for young people...and adults

Janet from Devonport

Does your young person want to learn some mixed media art-making during the 2020 Summer holiday in Devonport? Are you aged between 12 and 20 and wanting to explore and have fun with drawing and painting without having to meet school curriculum requirements?
Janet Mazenier, a Devonport local, is an experienced professional artist and art teacher and will lead the workshop. She has experience with teaching art to young people in Auckland and around New Zealand.
Attendees will experiment with oil paint combined with a cold wax medium (CWM) and other media to allow for spontaneity, fun and a relaxed way to make art.
This initial workshop aims to help young people discover, rediscover or enhance their existing creativity. It will focus on abstract painting and allows for a tactile, hands-on, screen-free experience.
Janet has a professional training background, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and will complete her Masters of Fine Art at Elam, University of Auckland in 2020.
The workshop cost is $65.00 per person and includes all materials. Participants need to bring an apron or wear old clothes as this type of painting can be messy!
When: 14 January 2020
Where: Artspace Depot Whare Toi (Kerr Street)
Start: 10am Finish: 2pm.
If you or your young person is interested in attending this workshop please email Janet – janet.mazenier@gmail.com.
Janet is also teaching two x four hour general introduction to cold waxworkshops in Devonport on 17 and 18 January 2020. If you would like to enrol, please email Janet as per above.

Kauri Glen Reserve treetop bridge and boardwalk now open!

John Gillon from John Gillon - Kaipatiki Local Board

NEWSFLASH: The wait is over and the Kauri Glen Reserve treetop bridge and boardwalk is NOW OPEN to the public! Check it out!

And please join us for our official opening/celebration in a couple of weeks!
➡️ When: 12pm Sunday 28 April
➡️ Where: Kauri Glen Road entrance to Kauri Glen Reserve
➡️ Facebook event: www.facebook.com...
Free BBQ! Walk the new track!

This is a new step-free route between Kauri Glen Road and Tui Glen Road, with a refurbished track (including steps) to Raymond Terrace. The new bridge is around 6 storeys high with a very impressive view of the forest tree tops.
The new tracks, bridge and boardwalk have been built to a standard to help prevent the spread of kauri dieback disease, which is especially important in this park.
*** Please always clean your shoes, bikes, prams and wheelchairs at the stations. ***

Note: We made the decision to allow public access earlier than expected to prevent further damage to the forest by those who were throwing the fences into the trees 🙁

- Funded by the Kaipātiki Local Board and Natural Environment Targeted Rate.
