The New Zealand School of Food & Wine will celebrate its 25th Anniversary over the weekend of 14 and 15 March when past students will join Celia Hay, the school's founder, for a series of cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, gala dinner and Pet Nat Masterclass.

Flashback to 1995, Celia Hay had just opened the New Zealand School of Food & Wine (NZSFW) above her restaurant, Hay's in Victoria Street, Christchurch. Twenty-five years later, the NZSFW continues to flourish in Auckland’s Viaduct, with a history that aptly reflects the transformation of New Zealand’s own hospitality, wine and tourism sectors during this time.

With over 20,000 students through its doors, the NZSFW is a leading New Zealand hospitality institution. It's success is built on the quality of programmes that it presents and in 2020, it remains a respected institution, valued by employers and its diverse student body.

Celebration events -
14 March - 9:30 am - 06:00 pm - Cooking Demonstrations & Wine Tastings
14 March - 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm - Celebration dinner
15 March - 10:00 am - 15:00 pm - Autumn Forage

For more details of the event please visit our page - event.foodandwine.co.nz

Which 'summer' are you having?

The Team Reporter from Stuff

It's been a mixed summer so far for New Zealand. Much of the country has seen record breaking temperatures, drought-conditions and scrub fires. But in recent days the West Coast and Southland have experienced heavy rains, flooding, evacuations and closed roads. Our thoughts are with affected.

Our skies have been coloured by smoke blown over from the Australian bushfires, meanwhile Wellingtonians are just stoked if they get to see the sun.

How has your summer been?

My new birdbath(s), and the view of them from my front doorstep. =D

Sharon from Te Atatu South

The new terracotta one I got from Bunnings Glenfield for $20 as the pedestal was missing (marked down from $44! That's ok - I only wanted the top part! STILL holds a decent amount of water) and beside it is the MUCH smaller, very tiny shallow concrete one (sadly, it doesn't hold much … View moreThe new terracotta one I got from Bunnings Glenfield for $20 as the pedestal was missing (marked down from $44! That's ok - I only wanted the top part! STILL holds a decent amount of water) and beside it is the MUCH smaller, very tiny shallow concrete one (sadly, it doesn't hold much water - not more than about a cupful I should think =P ) the landlord gave me, as he reversed over the old one (which was an old planter with Blu Tack in the hole in the bottom to stop the water leaking out). I told him NOT to reverse over this new one, as I had to go ALL the way to Bunnings Glenfield to get it, as they were the only ones that had it! All the other birdbaths were $70 or more each. =P Anyway, hopefully this pale smaller one the landlord gave me, and the much brighter orange colour of the terracotta one I just bought, will make them MORE visible so that he does not reverse over them again.....sigh. =P IN the meantime, the birds are enjoying their new terracotta birdbath very much, and the first one to try it out was a mynah. =D ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D
