I used to own one of Auckland's well known driving schools, now semi-retired. I can offer people my experience for free with all the tips and tricks on how to pass a driving test. Most parents do a great job of coaching their children but don't have the tools to get up to test standard. Tips like how to navigate roundabouts and do observation points, lane changing procedures, flush medians, merging, speed zones, how and when to do the MIB - men in black procedures etc and the list goes on. Here's what you need to know:
- A period of severe gale southwesterlies is expected in Auckland and MetService have issued a severe thunderstorm watch and an orange strong wind warning.
- Air NZ is contacting customers booked to fly in and out of Auckland this afternoon, warning of potential flight disruptions due to strong winds forecast to hit the city.
- NZTA warn of strong winds between 10am-12pm today so the Harbour Bridge will have lane reductions, reduced speeds and a 4x4 lane layout. Caution is especially needed for motorcyclists and trucks. NZTA said "Today there is also a possibility that all lanes on the bridge could close temporarily."
- Strong wind gusts could damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures. Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
