Public Social Dance

Cheryl from Browns Bay

Come and join a community of friends who love to have fun with golden oldies music.
Dance from the heart, step to the beat and tap out the rhythm while you Relive the glory of yester years.

My husband Clifford and I are starting up a Seniors Social Dance in Browns Bay.
Our aim is to have a social afternoon dance for all seniors.
Loneliness is often described as being more detrimental to older people's health than physical illness. But not every older person wants to play Bridge, Bingo or Bowls. So now we are becoming a sociable way to keep our loved ones mentally and agile for people in their 50's plus.

Door charges are $20 per person for 4 hours of pure fun and $5 for a bottomless cup of tea or coffee.

For any further enquiries please feel free to contact

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!

Home made bread problem

Karen from Totara Vale

Is anyone else having trouble with bread dough not rising properly?

I used to be able to turn out a decent loaf but now the bread is half the height - if that - and very dense.

I've used 4 different brands of yeast including the type bakers use to no avail. I've changed the flour to the best available and I've followed the recipe meticulously.

It can only be the flour?

What do you think?
