Declaration and classification of land within Waikaraka Park, Onehunga

Cathy McIntosh from Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board

The local board is helping to share this information across the Ward to ensure the community is aware and informed.

Auckland Council is preparing a draft reserve management plan for Waikaraka Park in Onehunga. Prior to that action, the Reserves Act 1977 (RA) requires all reserve lands to be suitably classified in terms of that Act.

Under section 14(1) of the RA, Auckland Council notifies its intention to declare the council owned lands described in the Schedule below to be reserves within the meaning of the RA and for the purposes set out in that Schedule.

Schedule
Parcel to declare and classify local purpose (community use and access) reserve under section 14(1) of the RA
• Allotment 87 Small Lots Near Onehunga (NA5D/49)
Parcels to declare and classify recreation reserve under section 14(1) of the RA
• Part Lot 1 DP 25356 (NA5D/49)
• Part Allotment 80 Small Lots Near Onehunga (NA5D/49)

Any person wishing to object to any of the proposals may do so in writing and addressed to Auckland Council, Attention: Elaine Lee, Free Post 243318, Private Bag 93200, Victoria Street West, Auckland 1142, no later than Sunday 24 November 2019. Alternatively, submissions or objections may be emailed to waikarakaparkrmp@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

Should any person wish to discuss any of the proposals, they can contact Elaine Lee on (09) 301 0101.

Submissions on these proposals should state if the submitter wishes to be heard. Any submitter should state in their submission if the whole or any part of the submission or objection is to be kept confidential, and the reasons. However, any information provided to the council will become subject to the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and may be released by the council under that Act.

Poll: Would you want an unconventional funeral?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Funerals can cost as much as $22,000 and the planning can be stressful especially at a time when loved ones are grieving. Some New Zealanders are re-imagining funerals by making their own coffin or having a relaxed ceremony at home. Would you want a less traditional funeral? Share your thoughts below.

Type 'Not For Print' if you wish your comments to be excluded from the Conversations column of your local paper.

Send in your little free library images and locations NZ wide

Robyn from Mount Wellington

I’ve been creating a map for NZ with all the little free libraries, so far I have around a lot so far but know especially in the North Island there are many many more. Nationwide they can be found in everything from fridges to bus stops and little library cupboards. Please send a picture and short description of your library or ones you have seen. Dont forget to tell us where it is. I have a Facebook page Robyn’s Fence Art & Little Free Libraries Auckland which has links to the maps as well.
