Suspicious fire on Māngere Mountain
A fire which tore through 1.6 hectares of scrub on the Māngere Mountain is being treated as suspicious. The blaze took a hold of a large area of "knee-high" grass near the mountain's crater and rim area about 2.30am on Wednesday. The slow moving fire, which also burnt some pōhutukawa trees, could be smelt by residents across the region, including as far north as Albany. Police are making inquiries.
