Following the consultation a few years ago, we upgraded the existing tracks to step-free and built new bridges.
Now we would like to know which new section we should build:
β€ Option 1: a path to connect Tui Park with the new section of coastal boardwalk at Shepherds Park.
β€ Option 2: a path to connect Hellyers Creek Reserve with Kahika Point Reserve in Birkdale, and around the coast to the Kaipatiki Rd bridge.
We only have funds for one of the above options, so which should we prioritise?

The ultimate vision is for an easily accessible route between Tui Park, Shepherds Park, Hellyers Creek Reserve, and on to Bayview and Eskdale Reserve and beyond. We've already upgraded the middle section, providing a popular step-free route between Shepherds Park and Hellyers Creek Reserve, and now we need your help to choose the next stage to be completed. Will it be a boardwalk between Tui Park and Shepherds Park, or a bridge and boardwalk between Hellyers Creek Reserve and Kahika Point Reserve? Please take 10 minutes out of your day and let us know which of the two options we should prioritise!
Next steps:
* 20 August 2025: Feedback will be presented to the KaipΔtiki Local Board to approve the option.
* August 2025 to January 2026: The detailed design and consenting process will be completed.
* February 2026 to September 2026: We will prepare for and begin construction.

Great condition for a 10-year-old sofa. A few cat claw marks by the arms as shown in photos. Other than that, it still has plenty of life left in it.
Must pick up from Takapuna and ideally come with an extra person to move it down the stairs.

I have a few chayotes (or chocos) that have already started to sprout... it would be sad to let them go to waste. If anyone wants to grow them, I'm happy to share! Life has just begun in them, but I already have four vines, so I wonβt be able to plant more.
Itβs a vigorous vine that can reach up to 20β―m in length, but its green stems and leaves die off every winter. The following year, they wake up again. They are prolific croppers and can feed an entire familyβmaybe even a neighbourhood! Every part of the plant is edible: the roots, stems (great for stir-fries), flowers (a lovely addition to salads), and the fruits, which can be picked, fried, stuffed, baked in the oven, and more. Bees love their flowers too!
To grow them, just half-bury the fruit in the soil near a fence or trellis. They start off humble, but even in the first year youβll get some fruit. By the second year, youβll see their full power!
The only thing they do not like is being waterlogged. They can tolerate other things (like poor soil and dry summer). They get to power closer to autumn, and keep producing even till mid winter.
PS: Just to share one particular way to stir fry them (and, oh goodness, they are tasty!)
Take 3 chayotes, chop them into small pieces (do not grate for this purpose, as they will release too much juice). Fry on high temperature using a bit of olive or other cooking oil. Add couple of medium sized onions (chopped) a bit later. Then a pinch of garlic, some herbs of your choice (I use dried herbs - celery and leek greens, plus some other when I feel like that). When they half ready, add table spoon of lemon juice (or 1/2 tbs according to your preference) and a use moderate amount of fish souse instead of salt. When mostly ready - dress lightly with sesame oil to add some more flavour. :) This one is my familyβs favourite now.
