NOTICE: Severe Parnell traffic disruption, school holidays and Easter

Cheryl Adamson from Parnell Business Association

Public Service Announcement:

Please read this information even if you do not have a business in Parnell as you may be affected as a commuter.

In order to install safety measures at 3 of the pedestrian crossings, Parnell Road will be a one way system for 2-3 weeks, commencing 13th April. Not only will this affect traffic moving up and down Parnell Road, but also the Link bus services, which will be diverted via Gladstone Road.

Pedestrian Crossings:

Auckland Transport (AT) is introducing Speed Tables across Central Auckland routes to help to slow traffic and keep our communities and pedestrians safe.

AT is planning to complete the construction of three Speed Tables on Parnell Road, along with Footpath and Tactile Paver works over the Easter period. The three works sites are outside 119 Parnell Road, 167 Parnell Road and 215 Parnell Road.

Civil Works will take place from Saturday 13th of April 2019 7:00AM, to Sunday the 28th of April 2019 5:00PM. (weather dependant)
From Saturday April the 13th 05:00AM to Monday the 29th of April 5:00AM Parnell Road will be reduced to one way southbound traffic (i.e traffic going up the hill). Northbound traffic (i.e.traffic going down the hill) will be detoured via St Stevens Ave, Gladstone Road, The Strand and Parnell Rise.

Access into and out of the following side streets off Parnell Road: Akaroa St, Windsor St, Ruskin St, Tilden St, Denby St, Gilbraltar Cres, Birdwood Cres, St Georges Bay Rd and St Stephens Ave will still be available, however, this will need to be in accordance with the southbound flow.

During this time, there will be a reduction in the amount of parking available along Parnell Road.

Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained at all times, however, traffic detours will be in place during this time.

The Link bus service will be diverted accordingly. Southbound buses (i.e traffic going up the hill) will continue as normal, but Northbound buses (i.e.traffic going down the hill) will be detoured via St Stevens Ave, Gladstone Road, Please make sure you know where your nearest stop will be.
