We’re replacing ageing water pipes in the Arch Hill area
This work is important, as it allows us to continue to deliver a safe and reliable water supply for Auckland. It also ensures the water supply network has the capacity to handle the city’s future growth.
During this work, we will be temporarily isolating the Arch Hill Watermain, which serves Westmere, Grey Lynn, Arch Hill and Newton, in order to connect new pipes to the existing network. We will be using water from other parts of the Auckland network to supply these areas so no one will be without water during this work.
How will this work affect you?
• Between 11.30pm, Friday 5 May to midday on Saturday 6 May, some households and businesses in Westmere, Grey Lynn, Arch Hill and Newton may experience temporary discolouration to their water supply. We recommend you check the colour of your water before drinking, bathing or doing laundry.
• While discoloured water is safe to drink, you may want to store clear drinking water in clean bottles before the work begins.
If you experience discoloured water:
• Turn off the tap and phone us on (09) 442 2222. Our crews can then flush your street to clear your water supply.
• Avoid using the washing machine or the dishwasher until the water is clear. Discoloured water may stain clothes.
• We recommend you don’t use hot water if the cold water is discoloured, as this will fill your hot water system with discoloured water.
We apologise for any inconvenience this important work may cause.
