Caryn Wilkinson Reporter from Community News

Police asked and you responded.

Members of the public have helped to christen Auckland Police's new puppy Etu.

Police appealed to the public last week for suggestions for a name starting with E for their latest canine recruit.

People were quick to come up with names.

Echo, Ernie, Eddie and Ezra were top contenders but officers were taken with the name Etu.

Household water restrictions to last through summer

Caryn Wilkinson Reporter from Community News

Auckland households face ongoing water use restrictions through the summer with the council not convinced the risks of the ongoing drought are gone.

Hoses connected to mains water could be used only if fitted with a handheld trigger, under a recommendation to be considered by councillors on Thursday.

Auckland’s supply dams are 72 per cent full, compared with a norm of 91 per cent, and the region is relying heavily on the Waikato River pipeline for 40 per cent of its needs.

Some Aucklanders have been coming up with innovative ways to conserve water.

What kind of water saving tips do you have?
